Malvern Piccadilly
c.1889. Originally a fifteenth century Flemish textile pattern, this dramatic design was redrawn by pioneering architect and Watts co-founder G. F. Bodley in 1889. A very large, starkly contrasting floral design, stylised thistle flowers lace magnificently upwards in gold, silver and royal red silk. The head of the thistle is woven in particularly wonderful detail in tiny acorn shaped stitches.
