In the 18th century hand painted Chinoiserie was the most coveted fashion of aristocratic interiors, with luscious colours such as malachite, azurite and carmine depicting oriental scenes of delicate flowers, foliage, birds and figures. Gifted by the Duke of Norfolk in the 1780s, the original Walzin Chinoiserie adorned the walls of the elegant Stoke House of Newark.Â
